Wonders of Giardia is a raucous collection of post-hardcore tunes made by former members of Dead and Gone that will have you have you digging through the recycling bin for bottles fit for making Molotov cocktails. What's amazing about this record is that the Creeps truly kick out the proverbial jams while obsessing over the finer points of suburban hatred and ennui. "Life War," captures the Creeps' own program nicely. With ripping' beats behind them, the band throw out some pretty wild curtains of noise and distortion, and bursts of psychotically manipulated digital delays.
Creeps on Candy are fed up with the black ball of hatred, suspicion and violence perpetuated by bad relationships and shitty jobs, such as on the gory anti-tribute, "Bobby Ray." The alienated lyrics complement the unhappy arrangements so well that its almost unsettling. I also hear some mid-period Touch and Go influences that I know and love, especially Scratch Acid, who like Creeps on Candy also freaked out on overdoses of bad culture, bad water, and bad religion. That's why it's surprising to hear something so deeply misanthropic coming out of the East Bay. May the tap water continue to bring out the worst in them.
Wonders of Giardia is an Alternative Tentacles release.
